Whether he wins 10 and Mich. hires him away or whether he loses 6 and we fire him, LSU will be better off.
So if he wins 10 games, which means we probably win the West and go to another SEC championship, it would be a good thing? That would be 4 out of 6 years with 10+ wins and 3 SEC West titles in 6 years.
So could you explain to me how him leaving in this scenario would be a good thing?

I am a huge Miles supporter. I really like him as a person of integrity. The last two seasons have not been up to the standard that LSU has recently enjoyed. I understand the problems we have and why we have had them. If they cannot be corrected this season (at least 10 wins) and a productive offense, I will wish him well and say it is time to look elsewhere. But I'll support him thoughout this season.
I agree by and large with what you are saying. One season was a failure because of the co-defensive coordinator disaster. Miles addressed the issue and I believe the defense will be even better this year. Last year the offense was a disaster due to the offense line. Miles has brought in Gonzales and Wilkerson to help improve the offense. I think we saw the influence of Ben Wilkerson on the O-Line. Wilkerson has been working with the O-Line in paying attention to details and one could see improvement in the spring game. You will see the best on the O-Line instead of playing the favorite linemen of "Stud the Dud". I think this is definitely Stud's last year and Crowton is hanging by a thread. You have to give Miles credit for attempting to address the weaknesses. But in the final analysis it is Miles fault for allowing the situation to exist in the first place.

I think that all that can be said about Miles is this is his do or die year. The fan base is split close to 50/50 in those that want to keep him and those that want to run him off. His boss is not the guy who hired him. If he does well and LSU has a good year (top 10 finish and BCS bowl) then he will stay. If he flops (losing season) or underwhelms again (8 win season; lower level bowl) then I think he is gone.
This has been discussed to death. Its put up or shut up time, and we will find out this year.

Miles has us middle of the pack in the SEC, based on the last two years. He made a colossal mistake by deciding two D coordinators are better than one. With two, we had none.
Past Season: Before the season, Miles said the O-line was the best that he'd ever had. We all know how that turned out. Based on the punky performance by Miles' No. 1 QB in the Spring game, what do we have to look forward to next year? He's mismanaged the team and program and it has spiraled downward in the past two years. This past season we were the masters of the 3 and out on O. That meant we ran anywhere from 20 to 30 offensive plays less than the opponent. That's why I think he should be gone.

Final SEC Standings Under Miles:
2005- 1st (Lost SECCG, 1st in conference in poll ranking)
2006- 4th (second in conference in poll ranking)
2007- 1st (Won SECCG, 1st in conference in poll ranking)
2008- 7th (no poll ranking)
2009- 3rd (4th in conference in poll ranking)
Since there are 12 teams in the conference middle of the pack would be 5-8. So please explain your comment. It is very disingenuous for people to lump the last two season together when technically last year we were 3rd in the conference and went to the best bowl outside of the BCS( with a close loss on a shitty field and ending with a controversial call).
We finished 5-3 last year which isn't a horrible SEC record. The only way people can truly complain is by lumping it in with 2008. If we would have been 6-2 which has led to the SEC division crown many times people could still make the comment we are barely a .500 team over the last two years. It is just stupid.

No way.....the best we go this year is 7-5
Since you purport to be a psychic, here are some questions for you:
How is the stock market going to finish this year?
Will Republicans re-take Congress this year?
Who will win the Super Bowl next year?

The players sort of get together during the week before the game and like work out some neat plays and then on Saturday just go out and do what they want and LSU wins?
I mean't we as fans dumb shite.
Also, we are the laughing stock. Watch college football live and see how many jokes involves us. Outside of our fan base, most people have came to a conclusion that "Without Saban's players, we wouldn't have won the BCS title." "Miles cannot win with his players."

winning 10 plus games while getting rid of miles will get off all the ranters

Danfranz, in 2008 we looked confused on both sides of the ball. In 2009, defense got better, but the offense got even worse as far as being on the same page. Winning ugly isn't what I was referring to. The quality of the play overall is what is in question. Looking at LSU's 9 wins which one actually impressed you outside of Auburn? I am not talking about the score but the quality of the opponent.
UGA? Down
Vandy? 2-10
MSU? Better than year's past but not even half as talented as LSU
Arkansas? Again, decent win.
LaTech? Struggled against 3rd stringers on a WAC team
UW? Not a bad win, but not impressive
ULL? LOL
Tulane? LOL
That said, let's see what this season brings, but when a coach is paid $3.75M a year just for himself, you expect more out of those teams.
As for the other poster's comment. Miles is a hands off coach. He's been known as this for almost his entire HC career. He's not like a Brian Kelly, Meyer, Saban, Petrino, hands on coach that puts a lot of influence on at least one side of the ball.
There is nothing wrong with being this type of coach if you hire adequate assistants. That's been his issue as of late.
Miles is going to get his chance to prove himself.

Are you suggesting he's not involved with game planning throughout the week? Are you involved with the program to know?

thing about it is hes going to win 10 or 11 games this year.then all of you think he is god again.michigan fires there coach and miles leaves for michigan.
Ten wins will be tough with this year's schedule, pure and simple. I think Les Miles is the best coach for the LSU Tigers in 2010. He will get great performances out of his talent this year.
Most everything else I am reading on the Tiger Rant is uninformed bullshite.
Geaux Tigers.

Welcome to the Rant and LSU football team bashing where a Top 20 national ranking is described as mediocre.
Going from 7-5, 3-5 to 9-3, 5-3 is seen as a decline.
And my personal favorite, a NC is not really a big deal.
Sometimes you just have to smile and say whatever.

Where are your friends, GA? AU? Vandy? MSU? Ole Miss? KY? Where are these friends that are laughing at LSU.....cause if in fact they are laughing they are retarded and we need to get them help.

Wherever they are, they must be taking remedial classes.
A decade of 10 win seasons, 10 bowls, BCS bowls, West titles, 3 SEC titles, and two NC's leads to being laughed at??? I would get new friends.

I think the performance of the O-line will be improved. Many of the QB's problems I believe were because of a weak O-Line. I think that Barksdale, Blackwell, Lonergan, Hurst & Josh D will be the starters. Hope that Josh D will be moved to right tackle. The middle of the O-line with Josh D, T-Bob & Hitt was extremely weak last year.In the words of that great Cajun philosopher, Bobby Hebert, show me a great offense and I'll show you a great center. Show me a poor offense and I'll show you a poor center. T-Bob will not be the starting center this year, therefore, the performance of the O-line will definitely be improved. This will be Studs last year and Wilkerson is the new O-Line coach in waiting.
