For a mass marketed rum, I like Cruzan. Pryat and Goslings are good if you're looking for a higher end aged rum.

Chairman's Reserve...brought some back after trip to St Lucia. Whoa man, when we were there we drank it with ginger ale, not coke. I use ginger ale now when I drink mixed rum drinks.

Old New Orleans 10 yr Rum (blue label) $50. You can get it straight from the factory. My buddy who has bartended at some high class joints all over the U.S. says hands down smoothest hard liquor ever, this was after he took a swig hot on my boat.
