We should nominate Saban for the LA Sports Hall of Fame.

He wanted him, but Brees didnt PASS the physical. Not really Sabans call. That was considered a career ending injury.

No way a Saban offense would have been as aggressive as a Payton offense. Brees would not have flourished under Saban like he has with Payton.

Didn't Dr. James Andrews examine Brees when Miami was looking at him?

we can thank Dr. James Andrews. Saban went directly to him to discuss the injuries to Culpepper and Brees. Andrews believed Brees would take more time to get healthy, even saying that by opening game he would have trouble throwing more than short passes.
The drs. for Miami evaluated both, Culpepper was actually ahead of schedule on his knee surgery recovery

Don't forget he converted Devery into a receiver and Blue Gay into a corner.

this. look at where brees is now compared to when he was forced to play marty ball in san diego. marty schottenheimer couldn't win with elway.

quite a stretch to say he had much to do with the saints championship. even a stretch to say '07 championship. very few of those players even played a snap for saban. many developed under miles.

devery was a productive back, but couldn't put on the weight. nice switch, but he did not really develop into a great receiver because of saban. he was very raw going into the nfl. his speed was so dangerous deep though. devery is one of my favorite success stories. nice job dev.

James Andrews a LSU grad if i am correct , was one of six Drs to give the dolphins and evaluation of Brees. Also on a side note, the Sun Sentinel down here in Miami had 10 "experts" pick the Super Bowl and all 10 picked the Colts . Geaux Saints!

As a diehard Tiger fan I'd rather have had Saban taken Brees and won with the Dolphins and hopefully still be coaching in the NFL. JMO.
