JJ needs to improve quite a bit between now and next September, but I can't think of a single one of our losses that can be squarely placed on him.

Yes he does need to improve, i just dont see why people think he cant improve.

Plenty of redshirt freshman turn out to be great QB's.

Eventually they do but not many are good as redshirt freshman in the SEC. Maybe Garrett's the exception but I doubt it.

Payton and Eli Manning, Rex Grossman and David Greene or just a few off the top of my head.

JL was completely mind fricked after 2008, he probably needs to go to a completely different school to improve and be successfull

I'm sure he can. Most of his faults smack of inexperience to me. His arm is decent, he scrambles pretty well, and he's reasonably accurate. Even if he never reaches "elite" status, he has the potential to as good as Matt Flynn. Once he has confidence in the line in front of him and a good running game we should see better pocket presence as well.

I think the kid can be a very good SEC quarterback if he's set up for success. Maybe he can even be one of the best in the NCAA.

Payton and Eli Manning

Eli barely played as a freshman and Peyton was primarily a backup but he played good once given the opportunity. I guarantee Garrett isn't Peyton Manning.

do you notice that deer eye in the open field look on his face in most situations, when he is playing. that is about 25 minutes per game! IMHO, 25 minutes too much!

i'm not trying to keep bringing up the past, but if you think about it Perilloux not only ruined his own college football career, he ruined JL's and JJ's by making them have to step up with no experience whatsoever. Makes you wonder how differently they would have played after watching and learning from Perilloux for two years.

I wouldn't focus so much on the look on the kid's face. He was a four star pro-style recruit. He knows how to be a quarterback. He just needs to be coached up some. He also needs a better line, better play calling, a running game, and some confidence.

A year is a long time. He can only get better. And frankly, he isn't that bad right now.

JJ's career is far from ruined, and JL just needs a fresh start somewhere else.

please let those two years go or blame on the coach that recruited him and kept him one season too long?

Until we hire someone to develop Q.B.'s we are never going to recruit the top flight Q.B.'s which boggles the Mind, because they could surround themselves with all the talent we continue to pull in Flynn, and Mauck were not Top flight Q.B.s,but they didnt have to be.Who would you rather have had last year Shep or Barkley? think about your answer before you post it.Athlete's are a dime a dozen,But true Q.B.'s.are diamond's in the rough. J.J. should be fine next year due to experience. His problem I see are Mechanic's,and Accuracy both can be fixed with proper coaching.Garrett will be a star for us just not next year, but mark my words Garrett will show you why we need a pure drop back Q.B.who can thread the needle.

Gator Trunk this is one of the best answer I have seen on this board this yr. We are stuck on stupid with Crowton & the other OF coaches.

There is nothing wrong with JJ that a competent OL and some sort of QB-coaching wouldnt cure. I think he did well for a true soph with the worst OL I've ever seen. He did damn good in his two games in 2008--when he had a good OL.

For all Tiger fans, I certainly hope so. Another year with Jefferson will doom the program foir several more. On the upside, it will hopefully get Miles fired
