I am proud to say the Beagles from the 2 FS, Tyndall AFB, FL will perform the flyover for our game against Penn State. They will be flying the F-15C (Eagle) which to my sadness is being deactivated this fiscal year.

For those of you fortunate enough to attend, enjoy...let's hope they get the timing right.

The end of a truly great era in airpower...

Should be a sight to see!

Another sign of how old I'm getting.

I was on active duty when the Eagle was introduced into the AF inventory in the late '70s.

The F-15C/D model is being supplanted in U.S. service by the F-22 Raptor. The F-15E, however, will remain in service for years to come because of their different air-to-ground role and the lower number of hours on their airframes.[3] The USAF will upgrade 178 F-15Cs with the AN/APG-63(V)3 AESA radar,[22] and upgrade other F-15s with the Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System.[23] The Air Force will keep 178 F-15Cs as well as the 224 F-15Es in service beyond 2025

Per Wikipedia so take it for what it's worth.

The 2 FS will deactivate on 2 Apr 2010...the C model will be kept in service with ANG units but eventually they will be gone from active service.

I guess just thinking about them being gone from Tyndall by the end of Sep is sad to me. They were to be completely replace by the F-22, but as you know the funding for the program was scrapped this year with more funding being poured into the F-35.

This will probably be the last flyover for the Beagles of the 2 FS. Can't wait for ya'll to see them.

This is great to hear; I'm excited to see some F-15s flying over. Hopefully they let them burn some afterburners.

Sorry, but the F-15C is going to be around for a long, long time. I guess if the Navy is tied up doing flyovers for all the BCS bowls it's OK to let the B team have a crack at it....

GO NAVY

Sorry to hear about the Beagles possible deactivation.

I've never understood the catfight between Navy and Airforce aviators...don't they go to the same flight school except for the carrier landing thingy?

Hate to burst your bubble but the Navy dosen't have a bird that comes close to engaging the F-15... not even close! F-18 .... 4 to 1 against the 15 then maybe....but I'd still put my money on the one 15.....

I am working on a construction project at Pensacola NAS and they just built a Joint Training Command where USAF and USN pilots will train together. We watched the Blue Angels practice every week (until last month anyway) and have seen numerous F-15s, F-16s and a few A-10s landing at Forrest/ Sherman Field.
