They will make them say "no" before going after the easy targets.

Brian Kelly is the back up plan. Sad to say for Notre Dame, they may be forced to go to choice number 3 again. They are after a big name, not sure its Meyer or Saban.....could very well be an NFL guy.

Why would not try to offer these 2 guys. It would be stupid if N.D. offered anyone else first.

BamaScoop, I always enjoy your posts and you sir are one cool Bama fan and contrary to popular belief among some Tiger Ranters, I have quite a number of friends that are great Bama fans and we always get along just fine. I do believe that they are trying to coax Meyer to come to the Golden Dome. I dont know if they will try Saban, I believe that the Irish know that at this point in time there is no way Saban will leave to ND. Maybe some one is trying to convince Meyer that after Saban schooled him and his team so bad on Saturday , that now is the time to jump ship. Losing Tebow, losing Cooper, losing 8 starters on defense and possibly losing Charlie Strong that now may be as good as ever if his dream job is Notre Dame. Geaux Bama and Geaux Tigers.

I would have to say - YES. They must go after someone of high profile - lay down the academic standards - and offer a huge sum of money - $7 mil+. With that said - I think the egos (which is not a bad thing) of both of those coaches will give them pause to consider it. Saban - Wins NC at LSU, Bama and ND = Legend. Meyer - NC's at Florida and ND = Legend. I think both think about that sort of thing...but I would still be surprised to see either leave.

They would be stupid not to at least try going after Meyer. He's basically starting over again at UF now that Mullen, probably Strong, Tebow, Spikes and Dunlap are gone.

If money isn't an object for ND, they need to make it happen.

The Saban talk all originates on Tigerdroppings by wishful Rantards.

Neither would leave until after their bowl game. I seriously doubt either leaves.

I would be shocked if Saban left...less so if Urban left.

BamaScoop...I have said this before, but Notre Dame would be crazy not to make an attempt at Coach Saban. I do not see him leaving Alabama, but he has proven himself to be the premier fixer of a broken program. I don't see this season as being the right time for Coach Saban to move. If Alabama defeats Texas, then he might have an interest in making a move after next season. I don't see him tossing away a chance at a NC by dealing with the Notre Dame issue this year.

Seems like Kelly would be announced today if that is who they really want.

I say meyer. With him gone is miles back to #3b or #3a coach in sec? I know some people would still have spurrier over him.

Meyer is their number 1 choice in my opinion I think they throw the book at him to ensure they keep the contract with NBC

I think you are enjoying this whole thing. I don't blame you. I would be liking this if I were a Bama fan too. It is gonna be a good ride and Bama should have a nice run for a good while. I don't see anything standing in Nick's way for a least a few years at least as far as domination of the SEC West anyway. In the East I still think Meyer can coach and he does recruit well, but that helps Bama most years because that is another loss for LSU every year.
