How soon we forget. 9 years ago we would tear down goal posts to beat a top 10 team on our way to a 8-5 season and now we get mad because we only have a chance at a double digit win season...
Let us never forget...

However a very unexciting 9-3. aside from the Auburn game and the end of the Georgia game, our wins have been uneventful.

I disagree. Most games weren't decided till the end of the 4th quarter with a chance for us to lose or a chance for us to win. Fortunately we won 9 times and only lost 3!!!

So, you consider LSU's OT comeback win over ArKansas five days ago "uneventful?"

9-3 is pretty unbelievable considering we were playing without a head coach who was to busy daydreaming on the sidelines to even know what the hell was going on during the games and with an Off. Coord. who has no idea how to call plays to use players natural talent I am impressed. Just imagine if there was (insert name here)___________ actually coaching what could have been.

I'm happy with 9-3 for this year. I thought for sure we'd be 8-4

No, it speaks directly to the talent covering for the inadequacies of the coach.

So your essential argument is that anything good is by virtue of the talent and anything bad is by virtue of coaching? And Miles doesn’t get any credit for recruiting or developing the talent? I mean, if its just talent bailing out our coach, how did they get here?

If a team keeps having poor stats but keeps winning, it is one of two things: luck or something not showing up in the stat sheet. One of those things, I believe, is special teams. LSU’s special teams have been terrific this year, and special teams are usually the domain where coaching is most important.

Again, last Sat's OT victory over Arky wasn't "exciting?"

Also, while we ended up on the wrong side of the ledger at Ole Piss & Alabama, and even the too-close-for-comfort Miss. St. win, I'm sure their fans considered those games "exciting."

All that happened in 2007 changed everything for LSU football and forever set the bar so high as far as excitement goes. Winning the BCS championship and all those games that preceded it made it as close to a one-of-a-kind, magical season as you can get.

All those memorable wins and comebacks (4 in the 4th qtr.) over Auburn, Fla., 'Bama, USC,
combined with dominating wins over really good teams (starting w/45-0 over 7-5 MSU and 48-7 over No. 9 VA Tech) and that strange, too early-morning "Pelican Uni" victory over Tulane (LSU needing a last-second, 2nd-qtr. FG to scratch out a 10-9 halftime lead).

And all those signature big plays. (Steltz's 3 of LSU's 6 INTs vs. MSU, C. David & Flynn's fake FG vs. S. Carolina, J. Hester & the 5 4th-down conversions to beat Fla., D. Byrd's TD vs. Auburn, K. Williams "pistol" TD run vs. VA Tech, Holliday's 98-yd. KO ret. vs. Ole Miss, C. Jones blowing up JPW at Alabama to set up that win. And there were many more.)

Even the 2 losses were both insane 3-OT games at No. 17 Kentucky and the home finale to 8-4 Arkansas. Then, a 21-14 win over Tenn. (w/all the Miles drama) in the SECCG (w/RP), followed by all those upsets to get us back to No. 2 so we could beat down Ohio State to win it all.

J. Hester's mom said it all: There wasn't enough Xanax left if LSU had to play just one more game that year.

LSU played like a 6-6 team that ended up 9-3. BUT 9-3 is 9-3. And a bowl win over Penn State will make it 10-3. STYLE POINTS ARE GARBAGE!!!! BUT IMPORTANT.

Kinda but not really. It's that when the team is not a very good team overall, that reflects on the coach, if they somehow find a way to win in the 4th quarter, that's talent overcoming the poor coaching. (gameplanning and playcalling). When the team is a good team (like in '07), but aren't playing well, the coach makes a call or a gameplan that changes the game and seals the win, that's the coach doing something to compensate for the lack of talent. Miles did this in previous years, he hasn't done it in the past two years.

In other words, name ONE thing Miles did in the final minutes of a game where we came from behind to win this year, that you can attribute directly to something he did, as opposed to the players just stepping up and making a big play.

It wasn't uneventful in the sense that it wasn't tension filled, but it was in the sense that we never should have found ourselves in that kind of position against a shitty lower tier SEC team in our home stadium on senior night with a major bowl game on the line. Miles teams have wet the bed in the last two years down the stretch, and it appears they were about to do the same thing again. That's not exciting, that's disappointing.

not any day. But this season I would. That being said, I can understand how some can be unsatisfied. The team did not look great.

But next year is a new year. And maybe Les can improve. Difficult schedule though, even though both Florida and bama are losing a lot.

People just need together a grip and have a little patience. Things can turn around.
