Plus the fact the regular season would be one or two games shorter. The supposedly increased revenue generated by the playoffs would not replace the lost revenue (at least for those teams with large ticket sales) if the team doesn't get in (ala LSU, Ohio State, UGA, etc.) Moreover, the supposedly increased revenue would probably be more evenly distributed among all 1A football conferences decreasing the take for current BCS conferences, making the system less financially attractive for them.
So with playoffs a school like LSU, at least when not in the playoffs, has fewer games during the season, gets less income, not to mention other negatives like the way playoffs affects the importance of winning a conference championship (becomes more like basketball and baseball, and not all that important), etc.
