Taylor outmanuevered us for Benton, and now Reed. Make no mistake, Benton went there bc he was closer to Trooper than any of our coaches. Although I'm guessing that our poor performance on offense this year had a lot to do with Reed.

Nope, it's been all AU since Mike Davis committed. Has nothing to do with this years offense.

Born, so he's been all AU since March? And Auburn has other good WRs like Goodwin in their class.
If he's been all AU for over 6 months, then why did he keep visiting LSU for games?

I know for sure that Landry out performed reed at the new orleans combine and maybe one other; auburn may have good rec. but not potential superstars

I've said all along that Porter and McCarthy are the only "top notch" recruiter for LSU. the res are average to below average. the more schools that start to recruit LA. heavy the more this problem will rear its ugly head.

I just read it. Very interesting. I really think that LS ends up at Lache Seastrunk University! I think he knows that Les Miles is a great coach and a better man!

I don't know who the recruiter of record for Benton and Reed were. But I tend to put it on the position coach in situations like that. Taylor is the WR coach who built a relationship with those two, so I put it on McCarthy to do the same.
But with that said, as you mentioned, McCarthy gets props for pulling in Mike Davis, Evan Washington, and players like that. So I can't be too mad at him. But he HAS to pull in Jarvis Landry next year, there is no question on that. If we get Landry, then this is no huge deal. But if we lose Reed and Landry, that is no acceptable for LSU IMO.

my real question is does the position coach take precedent over the coach who is assigned that region. the short answer with reed is he was a function of the numbers game. he was not coming here with randle (no.1 in nation), landry (potential no.1 in nation) and hunter and davis.
I look at this as LM fault because he should have put every resource at LSU on reed because of his connection to LS. if we got reed we certaintly would have LS. we still should get him.

You should really be in LM's inner circle. Your astute advice would be crucial to LSU's success.

So I'm right. Does not want to compete for playing time. Wish Reed the best and hope he does well but if he thinks he is not going to have to earn a spot at AU he's mistaken . They have Benton and Blake getting some playing time this year and will probably start next year.

Trovon is going to Auburn, good luck to him, no big deal, he doesn't want to come to LSU, so time to move on, now we should get excited about who we get to replace him on the recruitment board. These situations always work out, it's not like we are going to replace him in recruiting with some unknown player.

This is true, but I know for a fact that Trooper called Trovon on a regular basis whether he recruited him or not. Coach Taylor would also call Trovons uncle.
