so you think no possible way a alabama fan would have a bias le?

It's the southeastern conference, with an office based in the south.

Chances are, people that work for the conf may be from the area.

i think its stupid to assume they are cheating because they are from Alabama

they could have got someone from another state besides alabama to be in the booth. to me it just seems bad to have a alabama native in the booth for a alabama game.

No one should be "assuming they are cheating", but anyone with a brain would be questioning the obvious conflict of interest.

And you sorely misstate the situation with "Chances are, people that work for the conf may be from the area".

I agree with you LE... BUT there have been plenty of times that I have turned an eye to things that appeared fishy but have dismissed because I thought well "it's just too far fetched."

I think considering his locality and the fact that he attends Alabama booster events warrants at least an investigation to find out at what level of support he is involved with the Red Elephants or Tide Boosters. etc...

My guess is that he attends as a guest speaker and not a supporter but I would be wary of the frequency in which he attends!

I'm not suggesting a conspiracy...but if there was not at least the appearance of impropriety, why would OOC teams work into their contracts to bring their own officials with them when they trek across the country for OOC games? Assuming all officials are as pure as the driven snow and regional bias would never EVER play a part, this seems like an unnecessary expense, don;t you think? what about bowl games...the officiating crew is always from a neutral conference. Why? Because it's assumed that it would be "fairer" to have a neutral officiating crew...but why would that be necessary?

I'm not exactly sure how to fix this issue short of removing the duties of officiang out of the individual confrence offices and placing them in the hands of Big Brother NCAA...but college footbal CLEARLY already shows by their behavior that there is an inherent fear of regional bias when it comes to officiating. Why would it be so hard to believe the same type of bias could rear it's head, not just on a regional bias, but on an even more local scale?
