I have seen this argument tossed around a bit, but why?

of course, as the season goes on there will a pressure barrier that will seem to build as the hype about 16-0 increases, the questions come in avalanches about historical context, mercury morris will dress like a midget pimp and say something stupid, and people will nitpick every facet of the team.

BUT, what is more important to people that think it's better to lose one now? To face real adversity in the regular season, or just to lose a game?

i can see the argument to lose a game if the Saints were killing everyone each week, and never faced a substantial deficit. But, are the Carolina and Miami games not as good, or better, than a loss? They faced real adversity, a sizeable 2nd half deficit, and showed uncanny mental toughness and resolve to come back and win. Is that not better than a loss?

No team that has gone 16-0 in the regular season has won the Super Bowl. Duh.

On that same vein, no poster on Tigerdroppings named Sophandros has had sex with Beyonce.

Both statements are factually true, but the reason that no 16-0 team has won a Super Bowl has nothing to do with their 16-0 status, just as my screen name has nothing to do with my not hooking up with Beyonce.

Saints better not lose a game or we'll be road-tripping to Minneapolis in late January

At the beginning of the Dolphins TC in '72, Shula told his team, "Our goal is to win every game this season, one game at a time." In other words, they embraced the idea and then worked to back it up. The Saints should do the same.

If you look at it, they lost 2 first halves. But they made the adjustments at half and finished strong. Which is just like losing an having the whole week to fix what they messed up on. now thats good coaching and good leaders. I'd like them to finsih with a perfect record and guarnatee home field advantage!!!

if the Saints and Vikings both go 15-1 does it come down to NFC record?

zzzzz, no turning back now.

My only vague inclination for a loss is an all out rest game the last week in Carolina with home field advantage secured. Good luck Brunnell, Daniel, Reis, Leckey, etc

I was kinda thinking maybe they need to drop a game but the last couple of games I think the team has realized that they are vulnerable and now realize the intensity has to be there week in and week out.

I am glad you brought this up b/c I have been saying this also. We can't learn anymore from a loss than we have learned from playing behind and winning close games. I don't feel the Saints can gain from a loss or that it is a curse to go undefeated during the regular season. One game at a time Saints! Let's be the first to win 16 regular season games and the super bowl!

you play to win the game

if these were high school kids i would say yes they need to loose one to bring them back down to earth. Professional athletes have high expectations and a maturity that they know it's one game at a time.

Well, he's black, lives in Atlanta and has a massively high opinion of himself.

So he has a few things in common with Jay-Z.
