Is this unprecedented?

There is another thread with incredible evidence of the bad calls (or lack of calls) LINK. LSU is not the only team that has criticized the refs. I have not seen the plays that have caused coaches and fans to call of out refs but Florida and Alabama have been in the mix all season. Bad calls happen, they are inevitable. However, the recent consistency of who they benefit are raising alarm around the SEC and nation.
This might be another reaction to bad calls that have happened to my team but... What if there really is a fix? What if some people are being paid/bribed to help Florida and Bama? Has there ever been a conspiracy in college football? Is it even believable?
If the NCAA does an investigation and finds some people guilty, what happens? I've never seen or heard of anything like this being done before.
Again, this might just be me venting but I believe there is some merit in this. What do yall think? Blast away.

they did it in basketball so why not football?!

agreed. but its not farfetched. 99.9% there's nothing going on. but you cant help but think. what if it is true?

It sure does seem like the SEC has a hand in who wins, kindof like the conference basketball tournament last year when Miss St shot 61 free throws in one game against 23 for the other team.

Let's just pretend the NCAA finds evidence of conspiracy. What happens?

I've always been one to laugh at people who come up with crazy conspiracy theories, whether it's about SEC Football or anything else. But there is a great amount of evidence to build a case that something is going on here.

When money is involved, especially this much money, 'fixing' is possible.

they did it in basketball

interesting. there was the point shaving in the NBA too. I hope for the sake of the college football its not true, but if something is going on it needs to be taken care of.

I don't think that anything is going on but, if there is, it is brilliant on the part of the SEC in terms of the money they are making off of it. The call on Georgia to help set up a showdown of unbeatens the following Saturday, the calls in the Bama game some more subtle than others and all the calls Florida has gotten to set up a 1 vs 3 maybe 2 game in the SECCG. I really hope this isn't true though.

Guys.. I don't know how my opinion will be accepted.. But have you ever considered the fact that the SEC officials just suck as a whole to everyone.. But Bama and Florida are just a little bit better overall than the other SEC teams so they are able to overcome the bad calls? Cause seriously, Alabama was robbed of a 17-yard completion on the first play of the game..
It was ruled incomplete and the replay wouldn't work.. But he was in.. There were several plays where Peterson could have been called for PI on Julio.. I am just saying.. Is this not possible?? Cause remember.. Just last week Auburn was convinced the SEC was cheating for you guys during that game.. Same situation with the UGA fans after Greene was flagged for celebration..
I think the reason things seem so bad now is because everyone is really looking.. We have known for many years the SEC officials SUCK.. But now, after every game.. People are reviewing photos looking for missed penalties.. And video.. And so on.. Am I completely out of line with my thinking??
And just for the record.. I think the INT was a bad call.. I did not think there was a chance that it would end up favorable for Bama.. Hell.. I had my headset on and Eli Gold even said it was an INT..

so explain how the replay homer didn't see it like everyone else in the sports world? IS HE FROM BAMA??

I dont know... Maybe they are just total dumba$$es.. I admit.. It was bad.. Only logic I can come up with is because the call on the field was incomplete they couldn't find enough evidence to overturn it.. Dont know how or why... But I didn't know why Green or Scott for that matter got flagged for celebration.. Don't know why Arkansas was called for a personal foul against Florida.. Don't know why they suck.. Just know they do.. There were several bad calls go against Bama in the game too..

There were other "bad calls" against LSU during the game also. Every game has calls that are questionable within the game-- but turnovers late in the game which could turn the outcome and which are easily seen on replay should not be overlooked. What the hell do we have replay for if it isn't going to be used properly?
Posted on 11/9/09 at 12:49 am to tiger64
I wish we would just fire all the SEC officials and start over... I don't know what else to do.. Hell.. We booed them the whole game.. We got ripped off on the first play with the replay booth..

we all want it to be false. most of us believe nothing is really going on. but it is not out of the realm of possibility and thats what scares me.
What am i saying, im probably giving these refs too much credit, they cant be that smart, right?

I agree with Chris. Alabama dominated that football game in the 2nd half. LSU needed alot of those calls to beable to score. Alabama, didn't need the calls. That is why we complain about the ticky tack calls. After saying that, the Peterson int was an awful call. Do I think LSU goes down and takes the lead after that int? Probably not. But lsu should have gotten a chance to fail. Who knows maybe they make it happen. I think the injuries were a bigger factor than the officiating.IMO.
