Anyone Else Think We Didn't Miss Much Regarding McKnight?

The consensus is that McKnight is going pro.
I remember the mini-meltdown that occurred when he pulled out the USC cap on NSD back in 2007. Looking back over the past three years, I don't think there was much if any impact on LSU or USC. He has rushed for 1911 yards and 12 TDs. He may reach 1000 this year. I don't know how many times he has fumbled (a lot). USC has gone 29-5, won Pac-10 championships, and some Rose Bowls. LSU has gone 27-8, won an SEC championship, and a National Championship. In that same span, Keiland Williams has rushed for 1107 yards and 10 TDs; Charles Scott has rushed for 1957 yards and 27 TDs.
McKnight has been a good player for USC but LSU did just fine without him. And I'm sure if he did not end up at USC they would have still done great. Both schools are above one player significantly affecting the future. A few other schools are on the same level. It would be great for Texas if Jeffcoat ended up there but it is not imperative; it would have been great for Florida if Richardson ended up there but it was not necessary. Most schools are not on this level.

although he has not been a great player, he would help our offense a lot this year because he is versatile ie. he can run inside or out and could catch the short pass JJ likes to throw. our backs are too one dimensional therefore the defense always knows what coming next.

McKnight is the only reason that USC has won the games that they have. He would have made the LSU team better if he was here.

We may not have lost out on the actual talent that McKnight brings. But losing the #1 prospect in LA was the bigger deal. Neither makes any difference to me.

I heard he was going straight to ESPN to pursue a career in sports broadcasting. That was the main reason he said he went to USC was their broadcasting/communications department. Probably will need to use a clip-on mic though, has problems holding on the the handheld ones.

He's proven that it's OK to miss out on the "can't miss players".
I wish him luck but he doesn't run like an NFL back.

yeah im not sure if he will be a good nfl player. his breakaway speed is very overrated. i like mcknight hes done very well this year, without him we lose to ohio st and maybe ND. the past two years thou he had not done much.

He would definitely help the versatility of LSU's offense, kind of like what bush does for the saints. But it would definitely open up passing lanes for JJ and have defenses on their heels more, and who doesn't want that? plus he catches the ball very well, unlike most of LSU's backs. He would have been a help no doubt. But it's all what ifs.

as long as our coaches want it to be versatile

quote:I hate seeing LSU miss out on the state's top prospect but I love seeing them give him reason to regret it. He could have a national championship ring on his finger had he joined Miles at LSU. I am sure he has enjoyed his time at USC and I know he would never admit it, but missing out on the MNC because he turned down the state school for USC has to sting.

According to some reports, he doesn't seem to have enjoyed his time at USC.

McKnight has shown flashes of brilliance but overall didn't live up to the hype of being the #1 player in the country.
The fumbling didn't help his cause at all. It limited his playing time, and his effectiveness when he did get playing time.
Again, he has shown flashes of absolute brilliance, like in the Rose Bowl a couple of years ago.

We have the new and improved version of McKnight in #10.

Why the hell would he do that? He needs all the opportunity he can get to improve his draft stock. If he does declare, I won't be routing for the Saints to pick him up.

True, but then he would fumble the balls away, and will be benched by Les. anyway (so he wouldn't be able to help LSU).
He is a burst, IMO, according to his hype while in H.S :a 5***** player, a #1 overall recruit in the NATION, a next R. Bush etc... He hasn't lived up to his hype so far.

Mini? That was about as bad as gets. It's amazing the sun rose the next day.
