All I know is that as long as Les Miles is at LSU... and provided his seasons match the win totals of 05, 06, and 07 moreso than they do of 08, he has my support.

but, the question you have to ask yourself is, "does the program look like its going to maintain that steady course?". I don't believe so.

You're one of the followers that says stuff like:

"This year will be the TRUE test of Les Miles as a head coach"...10 minutes after he's lost a key player to a season ending injury.

After losing to Arkansas, did it look like we were going to make it to the NC?

Call it being fortuitous, but everything just seems to go Miles' way. Even this year, with the most pitiful offense in recent memory, I can still see us realistically blowing out the in-state schools and escaping Auburn, Arkansas, and Ole MIss with wins. You can say that we should be blowing out those teams rather than scraping by, but it's all the same to me.

For the time being, we're on rough water, but things are manageable. Let's see how the season plays out. If we do what I said before and go 11-2 after blowing out some scrub in a bowl, then Miles will have my full faith yet again.

If he brings us another 8-5 season, then I'll start to wonder.

So, do you think that firing Miles and taking your chances on "the next guy" is the right way to go? There are a bunch of things to consider when even contemplating this. How would it affect recruiting, at least in the short run? How would the players (many highly touted) who were recruited by the current staff respond to this? Unless a program is really suffering, you are almost always going to experience a dropoff, at least in the first 1-2 years, when there are changes at the HC position. The LSU football program is far from suffering right now. Just some thoughts.
