And if ya'll really think our defense dominated Florida, then you don't know anything about football. .....

Our defense played very hard, and kept them out of the endzone with some big stops, but at no time did we ever shut them down. Urban Meyer punted on 4th and inches from LSU's side of the field because he knew our offense couldn't score.

You seem to be contradicting yourself. On one hand you say that we didn't dominate florida and on the other you say that we played very hard and kept them out of the end zone with some big stops and then again - but we never shut them down.

I wonder what is it that is acceptable as a good defense from everyone.

The reason I felt this D was and is good is because

1. Regardless of how they played each time - they kept the ball out of the end zone - AND THAT IS ALL THAT MATTERS From a defensive standpoint.

2. Urban punted - as opposed to how he did it the previous 4 games because we are good and it wasn't worth risking that fourth down.

I don't care about pretty defenses
About defenses named after states
I don't care for dominant defenses
All I care is that they win games

The offense is getting ripped right now, and rightfully so, but it's hard to put up alot of points when your defense is on the field all game. Our offense seldom plays with a short field because our defense seldom gets any 3 and outs. The consensus was that our offense played their best half of football in the 1st half vs. UGA. It's no coincedence that the defense actually gave the offense the ball with good field position that half instead of the usual own 20 yd line or worse. Also, common sense tells you that the more offensive possessions a team has, the more chances to score. LSU had only 3 possessions (if you don't count the 50 second desperation drive) in the first half, and we received the ball first. That is about as few possessions as you will ever see for a college football half.

Halfway through the season, LSU is 12th in the SEC in total offense and 7th in total defense. By contrast, Alabama is 4th in total offense and 2nd in total defense. The game is in Alabama.

No one is "afraid", but to win LSU needs to improve dramatically. Luckily there is time.

And btw, you saying the Meyer risked the life of his star player is beyond ridiculous. Tebow was cleared to play by his physicians. Silly.
