I think it was the same, but he wanted it to sound more upscale.

Are you old enough to remember The Who playing Redemptorist in 1967?

Not only do I remember it but got invited backstage and spent about an hour talking with Keith Moon. A friend of mine's band was playing the night before at a samll club off Nickleson. The name of his band was the Phags.A limo pulled up and Peter Noone, Roger Daltry, Keith Moon, Pete Townsend and the others that I don't remember came in. Jammed with my friends and I almost got in a fight with Peter Noone. Anyway,Daltry and Townsend stopped the fight. Moone invited us backstage the following night because he thought the name of the band and the 69 t-shirt my buddy was wearing was an "in-the-face." thing. Actually the guys thought it was the British name for cigs.

Do you remember Hendrix's BR show in '68?

The Frost Top is still there - Whole Lot - a - Burger with cheese still borders on food poisoning. Also used in a scene in "Everybody's All American" as Blue's BBQ

Mickey's Gold Nugget on Nicholson - Best Steak before Ruth's Chris' and was an old Hopper's Drive In

Dearman's Pharmacy - (The Original)

Independence Hall North of Capital - Saw Alice Cooper there

Tigerland Greats:

Round The Corner Rest.
The Varsity Theater when it actually operated as a Movie House.- Would Serve Beer on Friday Nights for Rocky Horror. Experienced the Original Halloween when it was released there.
Pedro's Taco (Now some Vietnamese Fish hut on Highland)
Bono's Pizza
The Bengal Bar - (Good friend was hit with a stray bullet just before it closed)
Phil - a - Sak (and the speakeasy behind) where the Crescent is located now - The easiest place for Underage Liquor purchases.
Ollie's Trolley -Great Burgers and Seasoned Fries.
The Great List of Watering Holes (Murphy's, Bayou)

Awesome Post by the way...... Brought back some GREAT memories, during a time when life's toughest decisions consisted of what time are we meeting, what excuse can I create to have Dad send more money, and how do I get this Drunk Naked Bitch out of the apt without my Girlfriend (who lived 2 doors down) finding out.

Guess by my list I liked to eat back then.........

Bono's Pizza

Finally somebody remembers this place besides me. Decent pizza and incredibly cheap. Like $2.75 for a 10 inch.

Saw Dan Fogleburg there.

I don't remember when it was torn down. But it was next to the "White House Inn"( I think that was the name) across the street from the Capital Building.
Elton John played his first BR gig there. A girlfriend of mine worked for the Hotel and brought him breakfast. She called me to tell me he was "in bed with another man. I think he's gay."

Before my time.

Wasn't there an amusement park near downtown in the '60s? Had a guy tell me about it once.

The big golf ball is at a driving range down the street from Briarwood and it's still there (the bottom half anyway).

One of the GREAT Dining establishments in BR. However, not recognized for tidiness on a consistent basis. BEST thin crust pizza pies within 250 miles - no question.

This brings up yet another great watering and feeding establishment still operating today - The Pastime Lounge

Anyone Remember the Original Steinberg's Sports Center on River Road? The Stuffed Polar Bear and Great Brown Bear that greeted you at the door were amazing.
