the olympics are almost completely irrelevant from a sports and cultural standpoint in the US. Our nations best athletes are playing football, baseball, and basketball. Only one of those is still in the Olympics, and it's like pulling teeth to get the best basketball players to show up for it. Most of the US doesn't give a shite about the games, so give them to someone who cares about them.

The ratings would like to disagree with you.

And, yes, most of the country does care. Michael Phelps was the biggest sports story of 2008.

I can honestly say that at least 90% of the people I know cared about this past olympics.
