Speaking of safeties, how about helton just kicking the bee-geezus out of the ball through the back of the end-zone on the bad snap instead of giving them the ball at the one.

I think that is a tough call that early in the game. You could stop them and they get nothing or a just 3 points, but if you take a safety they get 2 automatic, with a chance at 9.
I bet you are right though, odds might suggest that taking the safety is the smart move.
