Gore has strained something and I've heard he'll be out two weeks (totally unconfirmed). My No. 1 RB (DeAngelo Williams) has a bye week 4 and I just happen to have

Glenn Coffee (at home v. Rams)

on my bench. (Not that it matters at this point, but I also have LenDale White who is on the road v. Jacksonville.)

Anyone have any information about the Gore out/Coffee in situation? Seems almost too good to be true from my perspective. I hope I am not jinxing it so that Gore is really fine and comes back immediately.

All reports are that he's out for 2 weeks and Coffee will fill-in.

I am in the same boat almost with Stephen Jack and Gore as my starters.....Coffee on the bench as insurance.

Only thing Im worried about is....if Coffee plays the next 2 and kicks arse....are the gonna start splitting the reps between him and Gore?

Im almost hoping for Coffee just to get me about average numbers filling in with nothing spectacular, so he wont frick with Gore's carries when Gore does come back.

would it be worth to pick up Coffee now and drop Larry Johnson? I know LJ sucks but he gets most of the carries in KC. What do you all think?

App for iPhone. Fanball. Updates players status immediately when new info comes out.

That Gore info was from a 49ers beat writer Matt Mariocca (sp?)

I just haven't seen anything like that yet on ESPN or CBS. Last I heard he was getting an MRI and Singletary would discuss it further when they got the results.

THE NEWS
According to the Twitter page of 49ers' beat writer Matt Maiocco, the ankle injury to running back Frank Gore is not believed to be serious. His status will be updated further later in the week.
OUR VIEW
This news sounds good for the Niners, who can ill-afford to be without Gore for a significant period of time. He could still miss this weekend's game, but he shouldn't miss more than that if the injury is truly minor

They're playing the Rams this weekend. The Rams are 28th in the league against the run. They let Julius Jones get 117 yards and a TD. They did hold Portis to 79 and no TDs and Grant to 99 w/no TDs.

I remain ever hopeful.
