He is for real. Big, strong, and fast.
Yes the white boy is very fast. I had to see it with my own eyes but he is a player. Was double and triple teamed all night and was still wreaking havoc. Nearly every time the Mandeville QB passed he was "hurried" by Bates regardless of how many people were blocking him. Has incredible stamina as well. Great pickup.

Yeah,I have a feeling that, like Morris Claiborne,he'll be the Unsung surprise of this class. He's just too quick for the big guys and too strong for the smaller guys. With his hand on the ground,he's a beast on third down. The question will be,can he cover and be a complete LB,or a third-down pass rusher?

I don't see why he can't be an every down DE.

Ummm...I watched the same game. He's fast and agressive, not very big, and had like 2 sacks, 4 or so hurries, and about 8 tackles or so. He's definitely a good player, but Mandeville's Oline is not very good at all, had a 180 lbs sophmore running back who picked up a block on Bates everytime when he was in. He is extremely fast and never takes off a play. I was somewhat impressed but not WOWed. Just my opinion. On a side note, Mandeville has some of the smallest wide receivers I have ever seen. Spots was impressive, but that #10 and #1 looked under 5'5". No joke.

No way he's an every down DE unless he gains about 40 lbs. He will play LB most likely. Actually, I think he would make a good TE or Center too

4 or so hurries my arse. Were you drunk?

Bates is 6'3" 240. Alem is 6"3" 254. No he isn't as fast as Alem but about 260 with the same speed as he has now would do it.

I went to the game to specifically watch him. He had arount that. He hit Wentzel (mande qb) 2 times right after he threw the ball, beat dombrowski (MHS LT) on an inside swim move, he missed a gimme sack where instead of putting a helmet on the Qb he tried to whip him down and cometsly whiffed which allowed wentzel to run out for a gain instead of a big loss. Maybe one other one that I can remember. Might have had 5 hurries. He played inside a lot in the 4th and got doubled. Let's don't compare this kid to Rasco or someone like that because that's what u are making him out to be against a WEAK Mandeville team (and Im a Mandeville supporter)

There is no way he is 240 dude. No way. I'm seen him in person numerous times. 220 tops.
Quick question: are you a St Pauls fan or student? Just wondering.

No allegiance to either one. Live in Mandeville. Haven't decided if my kids will go to Mandeville or St. Paul's. I was on the St. Paul's sideline for the 2nd half. He didn't look small to me.

That's because everyone else is small out there, especially for Mandeville's line. Dombrowski is like 6'4"+ 260+ and he looked way bigger than Bates. I may be wrong but I just don't think he's very big. Like I said, I was impressed with his potential but I think he's going to have to seriously bulk up Chase Clement style. He was like 6'5" 250 or so and put on some serious size.
Also, I've seen Houston up close, I'm right around 6'3" 200 lbs and he isn't much bigger than me build wise, probably outweighs me by like 20- 25lbs, like an inch or two shorter than me too.

Was also at the game and saw pretty much what i expected. Good player but dont ever think he will be a starter. And one more thing, i was with him at a bbq a few weeks ago and he is 6'2 if lucky. If i had to guess i would say 6'1 220 max. Like i said before he is a good player but will only be a special teamer imho.
