As I recall, USL wanted to change their name to the University of Louisiana but the board wouldn't let them unless another university would also change their name, hence the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and the University of Louisiana at Monroe (formerly Northeastern, or Northeast Louisiana University).

This is not true. There is UNO (LSU at New Orleans), LSU Shreveport, LSU Eunice, etc.
Just as an FYI, ULL was designated simply "Louisiana" by CBS at the 2000 CWS where I believe they finished 3rd.

This is against the law in La. to hang anything on a noose especially in this manor or on State property. It is considered racist to do this. Maybe the powers that be at ULL look into this, it is this type of crap that comes from the people that call ULL a place of higher learning. This as low as you can get, oh yea I forgot this is ULL that had to add another lower and that's ULL lower!

We are actually, Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College. So that would be LSU and A&M. Not just LSU A&M. Texas A&M no longer has the A&M in their name stand for Agricultural and Mechanical, it is now just symbols for historic reasons.

No Joke. That is technically a hate crime. LSU could never get away with that. There would be some official investigation and a protest on campus. ULL can do it cause nobody gives a frick about ULL. Not even Jessie Jackson.
