I really don't understand the whole "thanking God" thing during a football game.

Why not just give yourself credit? You're the one who drove down the field and helped your team win, not God.

And even if there is a God, i'm sure he doesn't care how well you do during a football game.

It's like saying I'd like to thank God because he deemed me worthy and gave me superior athletic talent so if you're sitting at home watching this God hates you

Maybe not, but his son seems to be a fan of game.
