Bottom line... Clemson plays the same Tiger Rag song after touchdowns, and some common chants during the game as the Golden Band. I was a 4 year member of the band, and don't know the story. Someone had to have stole it from somebody. Anyone have proof of who played it first?

A Clemson grad first wrote it in 1702, LSU stole it soon after.

Both bands stole it. It was a popular jazz song in the early 1900s.

Actually their versions of Tiger Rag are slightly different.

Clemsons Tiger Rag

LSUs Tiger Rag

But theyre both Tigers so like most Tiger Mascots, Auburn included... they play that song.

Seeing that jazz originated in Louisiana, it is LSU's song. Screw Clemson.

Tiger Band played it in the early 1900's so it is a part of LSU history and tradition.

Hey man you're crazy if you think Im on Clemsons side here.

After all they are known for stealing things..

Of course they say they borrowed it but thats from Clemson's official Website..

How ironic. Mike the Tiger is named for Mike Donahue, and Auburn alum who was a trainer for the LSU football team in the 1920s.

Incorrect. Mike the Tiger is named for Mike Chambers.

Thanks for disrespecting the Northshore with that erroneous statement.

I don't think there is much question that LSU played it first. Clemson didn't begin playing Tiger Rag until 1942.
www.clemson.edu/tigerband/History_1940s.htm

LSU's band had played Tiger Rag well prior to that, probably by the 1920s at least. I recall seeing a photograph of an early LSU Gumbo yearbook from the 1930s that mentions the band playing Tiger Rag.
