i didnt think it was THAT bad. Giamatti's performance was really good IMO.

It was a slightly okay movie.
M. Night Shyamalan's ego was front and center for this one, though. From the whole subplot of how important his character is to the world, to what happens to the movie critic.
Paul Giamatti's acting made the movie worthwhile.

M. Night jumped the shark years ago. His films getting progressively worse. THE HAPPENING, which wasn't, was horrible. THE VILLAGE was a complete cheat. He should leave the writing to someone else.

This is another person that it is now fashionable to hate.
I think he is great at building suspense, but not so great in executing an ending.
I actually like Lady in the Water. Is it great? No, but I like it.
I saw the ending to the village from a mile away so that was weak. The happening was an abomination.
Signs built the suspense then the ending was so bad to cancel out the previous two hours. But before the ending, I think he did a good job of bringing the creepy.
I love unbreakable. I like the idea of a more realistic super hero story.
Sixth Sense was good but I was spoilered going in so it was somewhat ruined for me.

Well, the water didn't bother me as we may have been the only planet with life on it for them to harvest.
What bothered me was the freaking naked zero technology aliens that somehow had interstellar travel but no technology.
And that is his main problem. He is great at building suspense and horrible with the endings recently.

I haven't been a fan of shamalanan's recent movies, but the previews for his next movie, the last airbender look pretty decent
