One of my favorite baseball movies is one from 1949 called 'It happens every spring" staring Ray Milland. Milland is a college professor who develops a formula that makes baseballs avoid wood and he becomes a major league phenom. Yes, its silly but they had a way, in those days, of portraying the sport of baseball that modern day filmmakers lack. Most of my favorite baseball movies are from that era.

Soul of the Game, great movie about Satchel Paige and Josh Gibson. Stars Delroy Lindo, Mykelti Williamson, and their efforts to be the first Black players for the Dodgers. Jackie Robinson is in the movie, but the emphasis is on Paige and Gibson.

"Safe at Home"

Cheesy B-movie made to capitalize on the popularity of Mantle-Maris.
