actually, that's a GREAT tip ... post date the check for two weeks after tix are to be mailed .. then, when you are given the tix, call the ticket office or go by to make sure they are legitimate tix ... if the check clears anytime before that .. this is on the bank and not you .. so, trust me, they won't cash it at all ..
thats a good tip but not necessarily fool proof. Ive post dated checks that get deposited and cashed the same day. when i called the banks, they said that i should hold on to the check til the date i want it cashed....

Relative is a. Federal bank inspector, there is no such thing as a post dated check, once issued, the check can be redeamed if funds are not availBle, it becomes a hot check

You can put any date on the check. If I write you a check dated 10/13/13 and hand it to you and you go to my bank to cash it, it is up to the bank whether or not they want to honor it prior to the date written on it. I have seen it go both ways.

accountant here. dates on checks have nothing to do with when they're honored or not. you can put a date next year on a check, and the bank will take it. just an FYI. the date is purely for user reference. it doesn't even have to be filled in.

Post date the check so that it shouldn't be honored until the date written. This last tip is only my opinion

You must be talking about Tommy Emmons. I always write down license plates. The scammers don't think about that. I personally scoped out where Tommy lived in Mandeville at the time. He was arrested by the state police and even made the news. Had he only scammed one person he would have gotten away but there were about 5 of us involved. I threatened him personally and got my tickets from him even though the first game of the season had already been played. This was about 5 years ago. I know 2 of the 5 for sure were screwed over by him and had to take him to court. He had done this in previous years as well.

FYI the other posters are wrong about the post dated checks. Banks will still process them.

He did not just do this to me. It was either continuous lies about "the check is in the mail" or charge backs on Pay Pal. People should realize that just because you have the email, cell #, and physical address that does not mean you are protected. He does continue to communicate (after 2 months) but i know i will never be paid

DO not sale tickets to "ITtigah" (Daniel Dale of Walker,LA). I mailed him 4 tix under face value on Sept. 5th for Sam Houston game. Our agreement was that he would put the $$ in the mail once he got the tix. He claimed at first that someone redemmed the money order!! I asked for him the tracking # and then he went cold on me via email. I have emailed him everyday for 2 weeks with only 1 reply back. Its $120. I then sent him a paypal link to pay me. I should have done that in the first place.I have always put the tix in the mail and told Tiger fans to put a check in the mail when they receive them. I have done this for 10 years without any issues because I am selling the tix via here or dandydon. I blame myself for trusting what I thought were true Tiger fans.

Wow. I have had good luck with PayPal when transactions have gone bad. I due diligence for that reason keeping tracking information and correspondences in case they try to pursue a false chargeback. I have only had one battle and won that one.

If you have been scammed on tickets this year, GO TO THE LSUPD and report it.

I was scammed, bought tickets for Ole Miss after the State game, even got them verified 2 weeks before kick off at the ticket office just to get to the gate and they were reported stolen. I was just going to say frick it and chalk it up to bad luck, but I said frick it and went to the police. Within hours, they found camera footage and have a warrant for the person's arrest.

Don't let people who scam you get away with it, even if it wasn't for a huge chunk of change. If they did it to you, they are probably doing it to others as well.

Who did you buy them from? Friend of ours purchased some Ole Miss endzone tickets of Craigslist which were originally bought off the Marketplace. On the back of those tickets, it clearly says can not be replaced if lost or stolen. They figured it was a safe purchase ... WRONG! Did not scan at the gate.

The seller was someone named Toni and her number is 5043775092. I believe she works for Cox Communications.

I didn't get a name, but the exact same story about working at cox.
Did you report to LSUPD and do they remember anything about the person?

For real, go to the LSUPD immediately. Person's charge can go from misdemeanor to felony charges easily.

Tell them to go to the LSUPD ASAP. If they can remember the car, her face, meeting location and time or anything, it will all be helpful. But if it was a blue 4 door car, then I'm 100% sure we were scammed by the same person.

Will pass along immediately. Thanks. Have they caught the person? What have they told you? Will you get your money back?
