Any advice on selecting a fee-based financial planner? Basically, I would like to have a single visit to ensure that I have the appropriate amount of life insurace and ask various other questions about retirement planning.

I am interested in this as well. Any financial planners on here that could outline types of investment vehicles, 529 plans, life insurance, etc. etc.

TIA

I am a fee based financial planner and would tell you I charge yearly fee - hourly makes no sense. I see you might be in Woodlands. I have office in Houston primarily, but travel to Woodlands every other week. If your open to sitting down I will discuss everything with you and see if I can be of any help. Of course there is no fee, but if it makes sense we can discuss a business relationship more in detail and I can answer all your questions.

Do you have an email address?

I'm not sure it is fee based or not, but I'd avoid Stanford Financial if I were you....
