I think we will take either Telvin or Mike Taylor. Just depends which one commits first--otherwise we are out of spots.
I am pretty indifferent between the two.
Telvin looks similar to Tahj Jones (maybe a little better).

I believe we take Mike Taylor.

Lynx, Do you go to the Flying Saucer on Second Ave?

I plan on going a good bit this next year. I turn 21 in a couple months so I plan on taking advantage of the bars Memphis has, especially downtown.
Are you from Memphis?

So we take Mike Taylor as a middle linebacker or OLB Lynx? Where do you think he projects?

Let me watch his film again and get back to you
For some reason I am thinking MLB for Taylor and OLB for Telvin.

I'm not sure. I'm leaning to that he can play all positions, but I'm not positive. He's projected to be a MLB, but it's hard to tell on film how he'd be on the outside. He's a definite run stuffer, but I'm not sure how fluid he is in space.
Telvin Smith though is definitely an OLB, similar to Tahj Jones like lynx said.
I would probably take Smith btw the two, but not a huge difference.

I like the Valdosta kid better

According to GA people Taylor is a future MLB.

I like both a lot and would take either.

I just watched all of Taylor's vids again. Yeah, I don't know who I'd take, they're both pretty good. I think either of them would help us.
Taylor sees the ball, hits the ball. He's fun to watch. He maybe would be better against the run than Smith, with Smith better against the pass.

we certainly need MLBs more than OLBs

We need both truthfully since I don't see Maclin or Mingo lasting at OLB under Chavis.

I would take a quality MLB over any other position damn near when it comes to recruiting
Outside backers have proven to be easier to come by for LSU

I see Mingo at LB. He's going to be a guy that is going to take a while to play defense (suspect he will be a special teams beast though early) just due to rawness but he's so athletic and I feel he lacks the ability to put on enough weight to really play DE. He just seems like a leaner guy that won't necessarily get to 250-260 for a pass rushing option very easily. I love his upside though but I think we have to prepare to be patient with Mingo.

He just isn't very big though right? You guys think Taylor can get big enough relatively quick?

I agree. I just think this is the wrong defense for him to be a OLB in. He's not an instinctive player or good in space, and you need to be both of those for Chavis. I'd rather just keep things simple for him and have him attack the QB from WDE.
At first I agreed with yall that he was an OLB, but the more I watched, the more I just don't think it can work. Who knows though.

He is the ideal MLB in Chavis' system. The size might scare us but Al Wilson, and Jerod Mayo fit the same mold coming out. I think he WILL BE a steal for us. The kid packs a punch and seems to have a good feel for the game. The more i watch his tape, the more impressed i get.

I really like his ability to deliver the hit and his instincts. I just wish he was 240 or so where he could step in early (after grasping the playbook of course). I see Luc as a guy who could step in day one. Just don't know if Mike could do that at his size. Enlighten me someone.
