GO.....

Stumped on where to dine tonight. No LSU area, more towards the sushi district.

Try the spot over at Sherwood and Coursey where Mestizo's used to be. I forget the name, but I believe it is mostly Thai. They have pretty good sushi, too (blue roof building...across from Applebees).

Or go to Nagoya and load up for cheap.

went to tokyo cafe...probably won't be going back. just not all that impressed and rotten avocado in a roll that shouldn't have avocado is kind of creepy when I get raw fish on another roll.....

and whoever said the cowboy roll was the greatest.... the "steak" was horrid.

if the "sushi" you are eating has steak in it, it isn't sushi, it is more of a roulade

i just tried something my friend got and the "steak" is on the top.....

pi--i didn't think it was so bad until the last two meals there....of course the only other beef I had with them was unripe avocado in my sushi....that's pretty crappy.

LSUsmartass will not be happy.

That would be LSUsmartass, it's his favorite roll in Baton Rouge.

honestly, they are hands down my favorite, but I can't afford to eat there all the time. Three rolls for myself (small, non-specialty rolls) run $20.

I thought he was the one that raved about that roll. That shite was awful.

But you and I disagree about Ichi and I almost went there (to give them another chance), it was down to TC & Ichi.

Your thoughts about Ichiban better be nothing but the greatest. Ichiban's is my go to BR food.

Ichiban has always served me room temp sushi which I can't stand. Their Miso soup is outstanding however.

They might keep it on the menu just for him.

I'm in the board's majority when I say that Ichiban is one of BR's best sushi places, though. The consensus seem to be that Ichiban and Sushi Yama are the best spots, and they certainly are for em. But some people on here love Drunken Fish, so who knows.

I'm hit or miss with Ichiban's. I think Sushi Yama is top 3 in town for sure. I've also had very good sushi at Tokyo (although I wouldn't order beef at a f'ing sushi place)

Volcano roll there is solid (and I'm usually not into those crazy type rolls)

I almost started a thread on this yesterday. Everyone says go to <BestSushiShop> and get <BestRollEver> but no one ever says what's in those magical specialty rolls. So where do y'all go and what do y'all get? I usually stick with Rainbow Rolls (sashimi on top of a california roll)and Tuna Nigiri.

And my one experience with Tokyo Cafe sushi was also bad. It just completely lacked flavor and was falling apart. I really liked the hibachi though.

We eat there often. Duan Tuang or something close to that. The sushi is good, recommend the Mexican roll or Dynamite roll.

And the Thai food is really good. We get takeout from there probably every other week. The basil-shrimp rice is damned good.
