He needs to quit football and concentrate on learning how to hit a curve ball

We got some dumb MoFo's on this board. Comparing Ricky Williams (who won a Heisman) to Jared Mitchell (who caught 12 passes in three years).
If he signs a contract with the White Sox, you have a better chance of playing football next year.
I think you misunderstood what I was saying. Of course there's no way that he should or will play football this fall. But technically, he could. I was just pointing out of couple of examples of guys who played pro ball in the summer and college ball in the fall to dispute the guy's assertion that you can not do it. I was not commenting that he should. He'd be fricking retarded to.

Millions? Does anyone know exactly how much?
1st rounders averageed around 2.3 million last year. If that helps any.

Well last year's 23rd overall pick Allan Dykstra signed below slot for $1.105 million. The 2007 23rd overall Nick Schmidt signed for 1.260 million. Since Selig mandated a 10% reduction in slot reccomendation this year, figure he'll make somewhere in there.
Now he CAN certainly play football if he'd like. He would sign a contract with Chicago go on and play in the fall and report to spring training just like Smardzjia did. If he tears his ACL etc. the White Sox are left holding the bag. However Smardzjia signed a major league deal which has different stipulation on guaranteed money than a strait signing bonus does. Also, its important to remember, that because Mitchell qualifies as a two sport athlete, the White Sox can stretch his deal out over 5 years to defer payment, though this usually requires the team to pay a little bit more or add interest to the annual payment.
