I'm thinking it might be time for me to get my first credit card. I am about to start my second year of grad school and I'm in a tight spot until I get my stipend in August.

I would be able to pay the card off in full in august and would not have much of a need for it after that, but I think I would still use it from time to time to start to build some credit.

I currently have checking and savings account with Wachovia.

Any suggestions/advice?

Plenty of cards offer an interest free period. I would look for one of those.

Getting cards through your bank is always convenient for keeping track of them, but you should get some rewards and an interest free period.

Be very careful. This is how many people start out at first.

my first card was a Bank of America Visa with 0% introductory... I got it when I was in pretty much the same spot you're in now. 4000 limit which I never had over 1500 or so.. it's paid off completely now.
