The Steelers run a 3-4. We run a 4-3 with a better MLB than Foote. A waste of cap space IMO.

Foote has one year left on his contract that was scheduled to pay him a salary of $2,885,000 in 2009. There was much speculation leading up to the Super Bowl that the Steelers might release him or ask him to take a reduction in pay because of that salary and because 2007 first-round draft choice Lawrence Timmons is behind him. Sounds like they tried to get rid of him during the draft, but no one wanted to take the salary probably.

He's a fine player, but Timmons is just clicking. I'm sure a team could get him for a 7th round pick. The Steelers just want to free some cap room up.
