re: Most over-rated RB ever to where the purple and gold?

Over-rated is someone with 4-5 stars and never sniffs the field. Yes, KW has not been what we hoped, but he has contributed. Barrington Edwards was a 4 star back and the Maryland all time rusher. Robert Davis was the No. 1 RB and Mr. Football in Alabama. They never played but one or two snaps.

I didn't even click on that thread b/c i thought it was ridiculous to begin with, and whoever started has an IQ level worse than Jerell Powe's.
We got a new one now...OM fan claiming McCluster over DMAC and Jones
Posted on 4/23/09 at 10:19 pm to sugatowng
Is that the douche who thinks they are a USM/MSU/OM fan?
That's a bunch of bullshite. Everyone gives Miles shite about squandering talent, but that was THE BEST backfield in all of CFB (McFadden, Jones, Hillis), maybe in the history of CFB. Their OL was pretty damn good that year too. Nutt pissed that away.

I would have to say Jermaine Sharpe from OCS in Monroe.

I was so pumped when we signed him, too.
Didn't he go to UNC for awhile?
Posted on 4/23/09 at 10:32 pm to The Easter Bunny
Alright you proved our point he was recruited and was a 2 star fullback and ended up as the starting tailback and rushing for over 1000 yards and winning a SEC and National Championship. What more would you have liked him to do?

I said he was under-rated and became a great RB

He got hurt. I wouldn't call him getting injured and never being the same again overrated.
His best year was 867 yards in 12 games the season before getting hurt. That was his best season.

odell beckham...although, he did have a ko of a block against a&m one year. that block prolly rivals lafell's ko block against moo st.

don't give arkansas fans the satisfaction of saying that year was nutt's fault. it's not nutt's fault that mcfadden only decided to play hard 3 or 4 games out of the year, the main game being against us. i watched 4 or 5 arkansas games that year, and mcfadden just did not run like he wanted it in those games like he did against us.

You do know he was nursing a leg injury during the season. Right?
Look, I'm not giving an Arky fan any satisfaction. I'm calling it like it is. Nutt deserves criticism if Miles gets criticized for wasting talent. And, you are also forgetting, they still had Jones on standby. Nutt fricked that year away. Both of those guys play a ton on Sundays, and they were in the same backfield with each other. Nutt should have at least won the SEC one of those years they were there. You may not EVER see another backfield like that one.

I would agree with the posters who are choosing Barrington Edwards. He only lasted one season at LSU after coming in with tons of hype from Maryland. After getting a 0.0 GPA (allegedly), he transferred to UNC and became a back-up RB. I assume he was just too lazy to put his talents to any use.
Vincent is probably the most disappointing in recent times, but he still had one great season. Alley was slowed down by injuries, and Toomer was actually a decent player for LSU during an awful period.
There was also a guy named Sharp who used to play during the Hallman years. He was supposed to be a big recruit, and he ended up finishing his career at Southern if I remember correctly, but I was still a little kid back in those days

So, starting over Joseph Addai as a sophmore and producing then getting hurt equals overrated?
If only he were white and didn't rap.

Jesus frick, this shite is so tired.
Anyway, I agree that Alley is overrated. Not that he was no good, but he had 2 good games and all of a sudden everybody thought he was the best RB in LSU history. He was not. That is overrated.
Posted on 4/23/09 at 11:02 pm to Maximus
Oh, I am no Jacob Hester lover or anything, just thought Alley got tons of credit around here for a season in which he only rushed for 100 yards twice (Ole Miss & Iowa).
