soccer, easiest sport to play.. hardest to play well.

Tennis has got to be up there..its a lot more than just swinging a racket

1. Hitting a baseball - I have hit against 90+ fastballs and it ain't easy, especially when the guy throwing them also has a nasty hook and a changeup.
2. Golf - I am a scratch golfer with a natural swing, and it took me 4-5 years a playing/practicing a lot. If you really work at it it is not so hard to get from a 20 to a 4 hdcp. Getting from a 4 to scratch really takes a while.

Just numbers wise... I'm thinking golf.
To consisently get invited and to play at all of the big tournaments you have to be one of the top 70 or so players in the world.

baseball hitting is hard, but how many random players have great seasons hitting? a lot.I think roids have pretty much assured me that you can turn someone into a .249 hitter and still jack 30+ hrs. i played tennis and found it not to be hard, but i also was not playing nadal or federer. i think to be great at golf has nothing to due with pure athletic ability my dad is 20 times better at golf than me. diving could be hard.
i still think soccer. you can not start playing soccer at 18 and go pro. would never ever happen. same with baseball.

golf takes time, but with golf you can play into your 60s and still be great at it. i have plenty of friends that work out and some of the most athletic guys i know, great at football, tennis, bball, baseball, golf, fricking ping pong. then i see these guys on the soccer field and all that changes into a big clumsy mess.

Proper technique in throwing the javelin/discus/shotput is top-5, IMO.

this is the correct answer. especially if the question is what is the most difficult to learn.
most people just do not understand how good you have to be and how skilled you must be to compete on a soccer field. i dunno the answer for a world class level, but as far as competing in high school or on good teams, i think it is soccer. there are some un athletic people that play other sports and play them well. if you find a GOOD soccer player, then he is a pure athlete in most cases.

Tennis IMO...although last year it became muscle memory for me on pretty much every shot except my serve. I throw lefty but play tennis righy so I basically had to learn how to throw righty to get a decent serve.
