No crap...so was keeping Benton. If we keep Benton, and Randles is driven to OU..and Benton doesn't make the grades we have zilch. At least this way, we are guaranteed to have 1 of them.

thats the thing, he didn't know if we were guarenteed Randle by letting Benton go. We were guarenteed Benton to at least sign a LOI. The gamble paid off but it was def a gamble.

Benton will be eligible to leave after one year of college football. that will be his third year outta high school. That is the only criteria to entering the draft.

I don't. He had no business visiting Auburn after we had been waiting on him for three years. That was a major act of disloyalty

Good thing he did. LSU pulled his offer the night before signing day.

I think he was dumped because there was a genuine fear that he wouldn't be on the field due to academics, and Randle is a much bigger catch without that problem. Risking losing Randle over Benton was not a good gamble.
I'd have to agree with this. Regardless of which one turns out to be better, this was the right decision.

I think Benton is older than Les.

let's say lafell gets hurt in the spring, and toliver is a bust. if Benton goes off for like 1200 yards and 10 TD's, he's going to do what RJF did and bolt because that whole school thing is a problem for him. he'd be 3 years out of high school. randle doesn't have that option plus he's qualified. if miles told randle gfy, and then Benton doesn't qualify or does what i mentioned earlier, he'd be fricked.

And you don't think his visit to AU was a big part of Miles' decision to pull the scholly?

I know this may seem a little crazy, but is there a chance that the delay on RR getting his papers sent is due to Les' decision to yank the offer to Benton? I have heard that Benton and RR were friends.

I'm OK with this. Life is tough and the kid landed on his feet. Malzahn will use him well.

So Rueben would not have come if Benton signed. He said it himself. Not sure what to think of this.

That happened a couple weeks ago, he could have pulled it then. Instead he waited till the night before and pisses off Bradshaw.

Brings back memories of Robert Lane running to Ole Miss when Russell and Flynn signed! That said...I'm glad he's a Tiger...and I think Lane now wishes he would've been even though he would have never played QB.

It was a no brainer, a kid coming off a one year lay off, not cleared by the clearinghouse. Failed to get qualified two years running, remember last year when the reports were he was good to go?

If you gotta pick one, you got with Randle. IF Miles was pushed into a corner, which it appears he was, then he had to make this decision.

Oh what a ride we will be on the next few years, appears Mr Randle went to the Mustain school of overbearing parenting.

Many on here would have called for Les to be fired if RR wouldn't have signed b/c we kept Benton. Then Benton doesn't keep his grades up and we have nothing.

We may have too many as it is...

I didn't ever think I would hear an LSU fan say something like that.

A little harsh, IMHO.

Good move by Les.
