I'd say he hasn't earned his money yet BUT was looking the best ever before the first injury last year. He was hitting holes inside the tackles with one cut and go. Durability is an issue when considering who you build with. Still, we have only seen his rookie year being fully healthy. Many RBs take a couple of years to put it all together. His punt return threat you do have to add to his value. Discounting that is like saying Devin Hester is over rated as a receiver. Reggie's projected full season stats with no games missed from averages thusfar in his career-
651 yds rushing, 3.7avg, 5 tds
89 receptions, 672 yds, 7.5avg, 3 tds
(for punts I'm throwing out 2007 w/only 3 ret.)
299yds punt ret, 10.1avg., 2.5 tds
SUM: 1622yds from scrimage and 10 or 11 tds.
That ain't bad. Dunno if it is worth bigger money but a definite threat. Key is if he stays healthy for a full year, gets the YPC to 4-4.5, and shows consistency between the tackles. That would equate to 1800+ yds from scrimmage, more than 11 tds, and probable renogiation longer term.
---as a fulltime WR I think he'd be All Pro, a perfect compliment to big Colston. It would be Devery with hands.

Your numbers agree with your premise. I just see him going out of bounds to aviod a hit and I don't feel like his heart is in it. Hell even Sean was getting on him for dancing. Hit the hole and stop the USC bullshite.
With that said, there are plenty of other backs that could give us what we need for less money.

thats simply not true. he was avg 3.0 ypc in his first 6 games, all games with double digit carries. he finally broke a long run in his last couple of games which brought his avg back up to 3.7... lets not rewrite history. if you want to say that you saw some improvement from him after the injury, when he was complimenting PT that is fine. before the injury though, he looked downright horrible running the ball.

I just disagree. I'm not a crazy about Reggie lover either. I just saw progress with my eyes in how he ran regardless of what the numbers were. I can just as easy see him get injured and flunk out in '09 and we move on as him breaking out for 2000 total yds and 15 tds. Either way, so be it. While he's a Saint I'm pulling for the later tho.

Why post to the title of a thread and not even read the first sentence at least-
Like him or not he ain't going anywhere folks. Review the new contract to understand.
It's a squash the Reggie trade rants talk.

Thats why I told you that the title to your thread is bad. You did a lot of impressive research in order to come up with all the stuff about Bush's contract. Why not have the title reflect the subject of your thread?

If you won't change the title you will get people not reading your thread and giving you a knee jerk answer.

FWIW, I like Reggie. We need to use him as a third down back, a compliment to PT and (hopefully) DM, a slot receiver, and a returner. I just don't believe we will ever get more out of him than that. Which isn't worth 10-11 million a year. After 09, he will have a new contract unless he breaks out with ridiculous #'s. And after three years of watching him, I don't see that happening.

gotcha, my thought was to try and get all the Trade Reggie bandwagoners to read. Maybe not readers LOL. Just copy and paste info btw. I'll try the title edit.

Well its your thread, but really IMHO the main subject isn't about trading or not trading Reggie. It is about how the Saints worked his contract to make 09 almost a make or break year for him.

But like I said, its your thread.

I dont mind you disagreeing, I just dont see how you can say he improved because you saw it, but the numbers dont reflect it. are you saying the bush from last year would have had even less than 3.0 ypc over the first 6 games?

It's not a bandwagon, it's that he hasn't come close to the hype at RB

agreed. But anyone who even brings up the idea of trading him needs some serious education how the NFL works. It's a waste of time and thought cuz he is gonna be here like him or dis him. The contract info was to try and quieten that as a useless idea. Also, if you do want him gone then '10 will be the year if he doesn't measure up this coming season.
