If your choices are UT and LSU, you can't go wrong with either, but you'll have a better overall social experience at LSU which is a big factor in life/success in business after college
I don't know about that. I'd say both universities provide great social atmospheres. Austin definitely has the better nightlife and Greek life at UT has nicer houses and bigger parties, but I'd still much prefer the Greeks at LSU than UT Greeks. I'd also say in terms of entertainment, bars, and having a lot of social options to offer, UT definitely has LSU beat, but when it comes to the people, Louisiana is far superior socially.
It's hard to say which school offers a better "social experience."

Tigerbait46,
I think it has to do with how you define social experience, as you did put it in quotes, I agree it is a little subjective. Better Greek parties? Not back in this geezer's heyday. We had beer trucks in the front yard and kegs all over the house and yard on Dalrymple. Committed dozens of perverted acts, so profound and disgusting, that decorum prevents listing them here. I'm sure the UT Greeks had or have their share of fun like we did, but pound for pound, I'd put any LSU partier against a Longhorn in terms of seeking and finding a good time. But alas, I have heard things are different now in the Greek system and I know I am probably a little dated ... But, the people ARE more colorful in Louisiana (then and now). I would discount my view a little as grad school is not the same as undergrad, but I don't think I'm far off. Austin does have better nightlife in terms of musical venues and bars than BR but we always made our own parties in BR anyway. You make good points, it may come down to whether this recruit wants to eat boudin and swill beer at crawfish boils versus the BBQ and Tex Mex of Austin. I know which one I'd pick.
