o think that before the bowls Bama was ranked ahead of USC for beating one ranked team.

Off the top of my head they beat Georgia and Ole Miss. USC beat Ohio State and Oregon.

Thanks lsumatt, you are right. Bama beat two teams ranked lower each team USC beat. Bamas best win was a 3 loss Georgia team, and that was enough to vault them over USC in the rankings.

Just more media bias for USC I guess.

And whats this media lovefest, I must have missed something, all year USC was barely even talked about

You must not watch Sports Center. Kirk Turdstreit squirts on himself daily when talking about USC and how they are the best team in the nation.

Are all the teams not ranked equal? Of course not, Alabama was ranked over USC based on the entire schedule, not 2 games. Also Alabam's only loss was #2 Florida, USC lost to 4 loss Oregon State.

Wait so, your whole point was that Bama beat one ranked team, then I showed you they beat as many ranked teams as USC and you change your argument.

The reason that USC beat "better" ranked teams is that their LOSS came to a worse ranked (or were they unranked?) team. Bottom line is that Bama's top 3 opponents (Florida,Georgia, Ole Miss) are at least on par -if not better- than USC's (OSU,Oregon,Oregon State). They each finished 2-1 with those teams. And they finished extremely close with their votes in the polls.

Guess if the media was really so in love with USC they wouldve ranked ahead of Bama.

So much for that myth.

Thanks lsumatt.

His contention was that if there was indeed, a media love fest with USC, then USC would have been vaulted ahead of Bama.

If he wants to contend that, fine. But he should get his facts straight and not claim that Bama beat one ranked team. Or skew his facts by leaving out losses (Bama to #1 Florida and USC to #20ish OSU).

FWIW, Bama isn't exactly short on media favor either given their history and tradition. Both them and USC screwed over Utah, who got no media love.

So we can all agree now that the so called love for USC is a wild fantasy.

Someone want to remind me of the final AP poll and present it as evidence of the infatuation with USC by the media?

Thank you.

No

Nice strawman.

There are 60 or so writers that vote in the AP poll, there are more than 60 people in various media outlets that cover football. In other words, the AP is merely part of the media, get it jack arse.
