LSU players sound off on fan support

This is a pretty good read from the Advocate this morning. You wouldn't know it by the last couple of years, but the PMAC can be quite an intimidating place. LSU had a couple of decent crowds during the Final Four run a a few years ago, but it couldn't compare to the rowdy crowds that showed up during the season where Stro and Jabari led LSU to the Sweet 16.

“I remember, it was the Connecticut game, maybe my second or third game (at LSU),” Martin recalled of the UConn game on Jan. 6, 2007. “I was shocked how many people showed up, which was good. I remember seeing the T-shirts and the newspapers (used as props by students in pregame introductions). I enjoyed that a lot.”

“They helped us beat that team,” said Garrett Temple of the crowd that day. Temple also recalled a 2004-2005 win over Ohio State where he described the crowd as “raucous.”
quote:
“Maybe they should let the students have some of the seat where the paying crowd sits too,” Temple said.

I know y'all get sick of hearing from us 'old guys',but back in the early 80's ,SEC teams used to hate to come to the Assembly Center. It truly was the 'Deaf Dome'.

I'm glad the students showed up last game. They will show up again because it is a priority point game. They will more than likely have to send students home cause they will use all their seats up tonight... It'll be ashame if the rest of the PMAC is not filled.

They REALLY need to change the student section. I am sure the atmosphere would me so much better if the seating was how it was for 04-05 season

The student section is in a terrible place. Its too far off the court. They need to move the media section to the other side, behind the players benches. That way the student section could be right next to the court, and much more effective in getting in the oppossing teams heads.

the loudest sporting even i have ever been to was in the PMAC....not tiger stadium. LSU-UNLV back when it was Shaq/CJ/etc vs. LJ/Augmon/etc was insanely loud. UNLV's smoking hot dancers couldn't even dance their routine b/c they crowd was yelling at them so loudly.....and that was just during timeouts. It was nuts, the entire time.

In the days of Rudy Macklin, Dwayne Scales, Gregg Cook, Ethan Martin, Al Greene, Willie Simms, Hi C Carter etc. students lined up the night before games especially against Kentucky etc. It was always a packed house and loud.
But when you go as long as this team has with the exception of the one year a couple of years ago and you hire embarrasing coaches like John Brady, people lose interest and I'm not condeming today's Tiger Basketball fan. We had a lot to cheer about and knew we could win any game in BR or even on the road. I believe we have the right coach in place to bring this program back to make realistic runs in the tournament without having to be some over achieving aberation of a team. When that starts happening (and it may be starting now) fans will come back and threads like this won't be necessary.

I was there for that game. Camped out on the ramp of the PMAC the day before because GameDay was there. I remember Tack Minor hit a long 3 at the buzzer before halftime and the place went totally nuts. It was awesome

Never missed a home game between 82-87. It used to be loud. Kentucky did not like coming here at all. The only a-hole who liked coming was Dick Vitale when he would stomp on LSU pennant logo and "pet" the Kentucky logo. Hats off to Dale Brown
