i like his potential and ability to just get the ball to the playmakers. I say keep him as the number 1 qb and let russell touch the ball at least 20 or 25 times a game from various positions (qb, wr, or even rb on a toss or option)

Good God almighty, touch the ball 20 or 25 times a game from various positions, and Jefferson be the starting QB. So tell me, what was in your soup of the day when you thought this crap up?

Keep in mind that our defense will allow nothing but 3 and outs or turnovers next year, so our offense should get about 90 plays per game...

If Jefferson conntinues to develop, and RS comes in and looks as good as advertised, we won't see much of JL. This from someone who really likes Lee and respects him for the way he handled himself this year. Gotta do what's best for the team.

At the same time, he has as good a chance as any to start next year. I just don't think he wins it over JJ, and RS may be too good to keep off the field. JL's speed is his biggest problem.

you really think this would happen if he's not the starting qb?

Wait, did I miss Lee living up to the hype?

The guy was shell shocked, he'll be alright...I don't see him taking over for JJ, but he could be the backup if Shep is not ready.

Let's not count out the CG kid from 601 land.

Yes exactly. I really think Shepard's role this coming season will be exactly like Tim Tebow's was his freshman year. Tebow ran the ball a lot more than he passed and he would just pass the ball occasionally to keep the defense guessing. Also, look for him to get some screen routes and yes he may be lined up as a wide receiver as well. Gary Crowton can come up with a lot of creativity with this kid. Therefore, look for the offense the way it was in 2007.

I think the Tim Tebow/Leake situation 2 years ago may be repeated with JJ/Shepard. I feel strongly that JL has seen the end of being under center at LSU. Remember how Miles deals with RB's fumbling??? Not kindly. He had no choice but to keep JL in there until the bad ankle injury and he was forced to use JJ. The memory of thr pix-6s will keep JL off the field unless Miles' hand is forced to play him. RS will be #2. Wait and see. Also JL lack of ability to run will be a big issue.

Why only 20-25 touches? The kid walks on water, we might as well give it to him every snap.

shepard should not get many touches at qb and mainly play wr or rb. jefferson is a beast

Uh... I like your optimism, but what are you basing that on? We have to re-load quite a few positions on D, especially on the line.

JL won't see the field unless JJ gets hurt, or there is mop up duty required.

This is the way I see it:

#1. JJ will probably be our starter next year.

#2. If JJ is the starter, JL *HAS* to be our #2

#3. #2 is true because based on what I saw in the UA game and different highlight clips (makes me an expert, huh?) RS does not have the passing skills to step in if the #1 QB gets hurt. Thus, this JL vs. JJ bullshite is, well, just that. bullshite. We need them both.

#4 Assuming #1 - #3 is true and given the fact that Les has never been in a hurry to put true freshman on the field (see TT, PP, JJ etc.) don't be surprised if halfway through the season you're wondering why you haven't seen more of Shep.
