If you think about it, the amount of people there are the United States, the numbers of people in the US that watch football, have to rival the amount of people across the pond that watch soccer.

and so I guess all those people in third world countries, and remote areas of the world that don't have access to sports watch soccer by default? I guess all the asian countries watch soccer as well

Just Europe alone has a population of more than 700 million, which is more than double the US pop. Throw in South and Central America, Africa, Asia, and Australia (and even those Americans who prefer soccer over football), and no, it's not even close.

People who watch soccer don't watch it because they enjoy soccer, they watch it because they don't have freedom to choose which sport they want to watch. I bet that if they could choose between the NFL and soccer, they'd all abondon soccer unceremoniously and start watching football.
