I keep the used oil in a big gas can, dispose of it at Autozone when it gets full.
I recently changed the front and rear diff and transfer case for the first time. I like knowing it's done/torqued right. If I could find a "trusted mechanic" then I might go with him...but with the dealership turnover you never know what half breed you're getting.
I think I'm going to start rotating my own tires too.

I'd rather spend 20 minutes and do it myself than blow 2 hours at a service place.

My Suburban at Oil change/tire shop is around that, full synthetic. I bought the tires there so they rotate for free.
I work on all my vehicles but often don’t have time for an oil change bout to head out of town etc.
I like the folks at the shop, good people, they do a good job and it’s quick.

Autozone will take it for free. On the burn pile or an old stump if you live in the woods…
I helped out at a local quick lube off and on for years when I could. Last time I went by, a 5 qt and filter synthetic blend was $39.99 and $4 each addition qt. The full synthetic was $64.99 up to 5 qts and $7.00 each additional qt. This is a bulk oil from a local distibutor. I’ve gotta say the state is pretty strict on testing them to make sure it is what they say. They go by twice a year and pull samples. Couple weeks later the report comes and each weight is 3-4 pages long. They do have conventional and synthetic brand bottle oils, but I dont keep up with them prices. They do all the normal quick lube steps. Check all fluids, top off if you want it, check air/cabin filters, change fuel filters. Add air to tires. You can be in and out in 15 mins max. They are known to be a honest local shop and dont pressure you into any upsales. Im still certified to do Louisiana inspection stickers there. I kinda miss talking with the ol heads that came by daily to grab a cup of coffee and shoot the shite.

Our dealership (GM) shops the chain stores and the mom&pops shops every quarter to see what they charge for routine services such as oil change, tire rotations, alignments etc......
What we learned is we are in line with our prices with the others. Some were cheaper ($7 largest difference) and some were more ($4) than us.
By having your vehicle routinely serviced at the dealership can help you down the road if an issue arises and you're beyond warranty coverage. GM downloads every night the repair orders we create and stores them in their data base for when a customer/dealer requests assistance from GM. We provide the VIN and they (GM) can pull up the vehicle history. If they see there is not a service history you'll (the customer) be asked to provide service records. Most cannot provide all records and GM may say "sucks to be you" and will deny any assistance.
Now if GM sees you have had your vehicle serviced on the regular they will want to help and may cover all or the highest part of the repair (of labor or parts) or a percentage of the total repair depending on the issue.
Bottom line is this:
If you can't afford paying a few more dollars to have the dealership service your vehicle then don't come asking for help and maybe consider buying a vehicle you can afford to maintain. :)

2020 F150. $55 oil and tire rotation. Larger ecoboost, semi synthetic motor craft. It cost me $55 to purchase it myself. I also have 35” tires. So $55 for oil change and tire rotation done by the dealer is a no brainer for me. I just make an appointment on an off day and usually 45 minutes later I’m back on the road.

Just brought my company truck to a place in Gonzales yesterday and it was $140 for the oil change, air filter change and 1 year inspection sticker.

I pay about $50. Most auto parts stores have a special where the filter is free if you buy X brand of oil. I wouldn't pay $50 to some kid with an impact wrench and an axe to grind to change my oil but that's just me.....

An oil change and tire rotation for my Chevy 2500HD truck just cost me $142. They use to be free for the first three years. This was not done at the dealer I bought it from which is 80 miles away.

I change ours in 5 vehicles about 4 times a year. It takes longer to procure the parts and find the damned tools than it does to change it. It costs about half of what it would cost and the time is far less. I also do not have to be concerned with some moron using an impact wrench to replace the drain plug and cross threading the damned filter resulting in the engine being removed. Have known multiple people who have had both happen using Jiffy Lube type places. To each his own of course but it just isn't worth paying more to have it done and chance them fricking up way more than old oil....

It was over $80 for me to do it myself on my truck last week. And a huge pain in the arse with the skid plate.

For my 21 tundra at the dealership, oil change and rotation is around 160. That’s full synthetic and I believe my truck takes around 8.5 quarts.
