I think Johnson is untouchable now.

I also think Massie and MTG are very comfortable.

If the Republican leadership wants to engage in reprisals, I think that will further fracture the party. And I think that’s a good thing.

MTG and Massie are comfortable for now, but kick them off committees or neglect to give them committee assignments and not only does their influence wane, ultimately money starts to dry up if the people back home who do donate and want something for their donation start to realize the can't get meaningful access.

Meh

I have no love lost for McCarthy.

He’s garbage too.

And the results regarding the crap legislation would have largely been the same too because of McCarthy’s garbage quality. I think he would have gotten a little bit more, maybe a few more billions shaved off, a little goose for the gander for the Republicans, but the crap would have still gone through.

There’s still too many bad Republicans that need to be purged.

I don’t think so.

Overwhelming majority of people in MTG’s district just want DC to leave them alone and stay away. I think Massie’s district is largely the same.

I know this is an unpopular opinion, but people like her are the problem. When you refuse to agree with anyone, there is no coalition and there is no majority. So it forces the leaders to coalesce around groups that can be cohesive.

Why can’t republicans pass a bill about the border?
Why can’t republicans pass a bill to cut taxes?
Why can’t republicans cut spending?

Republicans are the majority. Without blaming someone else, the only reason they can’t do these things is because they can’t work together.

MTG hasn’t filed a balanced budget bill. Massie hasn’t filed an immigration bill. They don’t want to fix things. They aren’t serious people.

No, the leadership and many Republicans don’t want those things.

There’s needs to be more purging of bad Republicans, more electing better Republicans, and gaining a swell from the ground up that washes out people like McConnell, Thune, Johnson, Scalise, and a whole lot of other people in charge.

Until that happens, nothing will change and Republicans will continue to disappoint.

Y’all missed the part where I said,

quote:

Without blaming someone else

You don’t get everything you want in a Democratic society. You get some things you want and other people get things they want and people have to compromise. If you get everything you want, that’s tyranny.

An all or nothing strategy isn’t viable. The pendulum swings and this type of division keeps it from swinging back in your favor. The opportunity is slipping away because of acts like this.

Initially, Trump only got my vote as a stick in the spokes of the GOP machine and this is yet another of MANY examples why.

The republican party is NOT a conservative party nor are they an opposition party. Go ahead and tick down the list of "fruit loops" ostracized out of the mainstream of that party over the decades and how right they wound up being in retrospect. Reagan was an outlaw. Ron Paul was mocked and derided. Pat Buchanan doesn't look so crazy anymore.

To have any chance of anything resembling conservative governance on a national level, the GOP has to DIE completely.

Which is why this board in particular really likes MTG. She's a clown doing clown things who does not have to think too much.

Massie can be a serious dude. He's not an idiot in terms of intellect, however his political acumen is in question. He's playing AA but the game is the Big Show.

Please, please, please tell me what have Republicans got since Johnson has been Speaker? Remember this is the same man that said there would not be ANY more Ukraine funding until the Border was secure.
