when your offseason move of signing Cousins signaled win now to everyone.

And this is the difference between trying to build a program and trying to win the media’s approval on draft night. Who gives a shite about how sports writers and fans interpret your “signals.” I was in an uproar myself until I calmed down and rationally looked at the numbers.

No one player except at QB was going to drastically change the Falcons. I’d much rather try a manageable approach to securing the QB position than end up having to trade 3 first round picks in a future draft to get a QB who is just as big of a gamble as Penix. They gave up zero picks to acquire Cousins (other than the boneheaded tampering issue) and stayed put at 8 to get Penix. This isn’t some massive program defining decision if it doesn’t work out perfectly.

You’re right at that middle dip part currently.

You’re trying to talk to a bunch of sheep. As soon as a narrative is set in motion the sheep all accept it in lockstep and that’s the end of their “thinking.” It’s sad.

You do realize there is a likely scenario where Cousins is a bust AND Penix doesn't pan out. Then the Falcons have wasted $100 million and a first round draft pick.

The odds of his move being disastrous are much greater than it working out like you describe.
