I live in the Spring/Woodlands area north of Houston. It has been raining since 7 AM. We did get some winds that the local TV outlets said were clocked at 70 mph. I have a large 5" rain gauge. Using binoculars, I could see that the gauge had overflowed by 9:30 am. Power is out and I do bless the fact that we invested in a whole house Generac.

This storm line extends from I-10 on the South to about 100 miles North of I-10.

Get ready for a very wet day.

If this station/rain gauge is accurate....

....it got 2.21" of rain in right at 20 minutes between 7:49 and 8:08 this morning.

Yeah, that'll cause some issues.

Seems like a ton of flights have been cancelled out of Houston this morning.
I have some folks from out of country who had flights get cancelled and luggage is stuck on planes until lightning stops. That was there update an hour ago. The talk of flash flood warnings has the folks freaking out

Magnolia chiming in her. We have gotten almost 4 inches today. Winds haven't been much to speak of. More fun to come!

I was staying in Highlands back around 2016-2017. Working in Pasadena. Took me over an hour to get there that morning. Got rained out and finally made it back to the campground. Turned on the TV and a truck driver was taking a break at an underpass on I-10 not far away. He woke up to water in the cab. People stopped and threw him a life line made from a boat cushion.

That’s the most I’ve seen in that area. Worked there off and on for 15 years.

I’ve been cutting grass all day. That stuff grew quickly after the rain we got last week.
Your grass is going to grow now.
