go ask any electrician in the middle of summer or anyone on a turnaround if they would rather be in an office job making the same amount of money and see what they say

not everyone is cut out to own and run a business. lot more tradesman that end up as a career journeyman than business owner....prolly 25:1 or more. stop acting like its so easy to become an owner and then so easy to make it and that everyone is capable of doing that.

I grew up in construction and worked construction for years before going to college at 30 and then law school.

I would tell most kids considering college these days, unless they are going to be an engineer or work in STEM, or go to med school, they should at least seriously consider trade school to work at a chem plant, or to be a plumber, or weld, or to drive heavy machinery.

A lot of the trades would be significantly more lucrative than advanced liberal arts degrees and they could go to work with no debt.
