1982. The year we skinned the Bear. Bryant said it was one of the most sound defeats he had ever went through. Score was 20-10. Wayyy more lopsided than the score indicated. That LSU defense was elite that year

Pete Jenkins was the DC/DL coach, literally in his coaching prime at 41.

Anchored by senior defensive linemen Ramsay Dardar (All SEC) and (future NFL great) Leonard Marshall, the defense featured All SEC LB Albert Richardson (a tackling machine who made some All American lists) and All SEC CB James Britt (also a NEA All American), with other Tiger defensive greats such as Greg Bowser, Gregg Dubroc, Rydell Melancon and so many others.

It was a great game to watch. It put the nails in the coffin for the Bear.

One of my Top 3 GBFTL games.

I grew up hating Alabama because of a rivalry I had with my Uncle, who was a Big Bama Supporter that lived in Tuscaloosa.

We finally beat them in that very memorable game in Birmingham!

I distinctly remember my buddy Mark Jeffers (The Tiger Mascot) talking with Bear Bryant down on the field during pre-game warmups.

He said he told the Bear "We're gonna kick yalls arse today" and Bear replied "You're probaly Right."

My dad and I went to that game in 1982. It was a great day. Held Bama without a first down in the first half.

We rewatched it last week (it’s on YouTube). Paul Horning and Jimmy Taylor were the announcers. I highly suggest it for viewing - and don’t skip the commercials.

They absolutely pounded that option QB Bama had.

I’ve watched a few old tapes of games from that season. That defense was just silly.

I was a freshman in '82. You could get into the games with just your student ID. It rained naval oranges in Tiger Stadium that year. The Stovalls are fine, salt of the Earth, folks. I never liked the way LSU treated Coach Jerry.
