"Believes the government's story"? If any / either/all of the Allies' faked his death story, how does that reconcile with absolutely no action in looking for him on the part of Simon Wiesenthal? There is no way he would have gone along with anything to do with allowing Hitler to escape. There is no way his silence could be bought & he would know if that was true, or even if there were simple rumors.

ANYONE's "silence can be bought" or forces because everyone has a price. Simon Wiesenthal was not immune to it either. ( As we've come to note in modern times, people can be paid-off, threatened and blackmailed by people in power.)

So many odd deals were made by ALL sides near the end of WW2's conclusion. (ex: USSR was given rule to enslave all Eastern Europe; NASA ; "Ratlines" to South America #Vatican & RCC officials)

None of these arranged deals were openly aired and broadcast to the general public for good reason. (nor especially would there ever be any public admission that one A. Shicklegruber might be snuck out of Germany and given sanctuary in S. America).
