Yup — we just got back from St. Martin, and our takeaway was that it was so enjoyable talking and getting to know the locals (many of whom were black).

They don’t share the outlook on life black Americans have — and many even called black Americans out for it. They’re totally different: hardworking, kind in word and deed, positive about life, they both love and have pride in their island (both French and Dutch sides). One of the black bartenders we got to know said she detests black Americans and avoids them if she can.

Of course the feel good was destroyed as soon as we landed in MIA and were immediately greeted by you know what.
