It just doesn’t make any sense to me. I don’t understand why Jay refuses to start his best pitcher, especially in a game 3 when he hasn’t been used.

0.87 ERA in SEC play vs a 16.88 ERA in SEC play, and the 16.88 ERA got the start.

my only thought is Anderson has shown promise starting but looked rough as a reliever. Even mid week.

Herring has shown he doesn’t need a full starter routine to be good.

I still would have started herring

Both were getting used.

If we started Herring we probably win, if we hadn’t shifted and had horrendous positioning we would be winning.

It's the way Jay wanted it.

Cue Fredo... It's not how I wanted it!!

Anderson got screwed by coach alignments. Definitely would have made it thru tied at 1 instead of being down 3-1 if it weren't for Johnson's idiotic shifts.

Herring can only pitch half the game and he’d rather him do it on the backend. He has said many times he wants one of his top pitchers in this type of role, and it is Herring for him

Herring is a reliever. Anderson is a starter.

Does Koki or somebody have the balls to ask CJJ in post-game?

Jaques you out there?

Also ask about playing the shift?

Story of the season. Coaching decisions, rushed at bats from your leaders and swinging at balls cost this team a sweep.

One bad inning from the staff over the entire weekend.

1 thru 5 in the order had two hits today against the worst staff in the conference. Not a fan of Jay over managing, but its on the hitters today,

Meh. You gotta get 27 outs anyway. We were always gonna have to use the both and more. Herring's been great out of the pen, and Anderson seems more comfortable starting. But that's hindsight and not why we didn't win. It's because we scored 5 runs on a Sunday in Game 3 against the worst team in the SEC.

I’d understand it more if it was a better opponent, but against Auburn it should have been Herring to start. I get holding Herring for later innings against a better opponent, but we spotted them 5 in the first. That’s tough to overcome. I really wish they would have let Herring start this one.

If we didn’t shift that’s a shutout first inning

Your thinking is not flawed but when a Coach has to be so perfect on every call to plan for the lack of offense at any point in a game, you got bigger problems. So we give up runs early or later, we can't score enough to pull out most games and our record reflects that.

CJJ has a show on Monday night and if you go on LSUSPORTS.NET and click on the link, there is another link where you can ask a question.

1. Attend the show
2. Call in
3. Use LSUsports.net link

Go for it.

You aren’t going to like the answer. But the reason is he knows he’s only getting 5ish innings out of Herring.

So he’s trying to decide where the other innings would come from. Anderson starting seems like a reasonable place to steal a couple of innings. It didn’t work out.
